Hey y’all! For those of you who didn’t know, today is the annual Earth Day! And I thought I would share a few fun facts about Earth Day that some of y’all might not know.
But first, what is Earth Day and why do we celebrate it?
Every year we celebrate the earth on April 22nd to acknowledge all the achievements of the environmental movements that we as humans have accomplished!
Similarly, Earth Day raises awareness for the dire need to make sure we protect all of Earth’s natural resources for future generations and now.
So it’s really just a day to remind ourselves of this amazing planet we live on and how we need to protect it!
Now here are 10 Fun Facts about Earth Day!
- 1 BILLION people celebrate Earth Day each year!
- Each year Earth Day helps to make millions of trees being planted!
- NYC hosts the largest Earth Day celebrations.
- Earth Day always takes place on April 22nd.
- On the very first Earth Day, 20 million people celebrated it!
- Earth is about 4.6 billion years old!
- Earth Day was first celebrated in 1970.
- 1 cardboard box and be recycled 7 different times.

You might be wondering, what can I do to celebrate Earth Day?
Well, some great ways to do that could be:
- Planting a tree
- Picking up any trash you see and making sure to reduce, reuse, and recycle!
- You can even choose, if possible, to ride your bike or even walk to places instead of using gas that can pollute the air!
A fun project to help the earth is to make a bird feeder. All you have to do is use a recycled water bottle, soda bottle, or even a milk jug and you are both feeding a hungry bird, while also reusing materials that could have been put in a landfill!
