distance learning, by RB
At first I was really excited to get a break! Finally, a chance to breathe from the stress of school and extracurricular activities. Sometimes online school can be great when you get let out of class early, even 15 minutes early is exciting.
Freetime
I enjoy doing paint by numbers. Although I am not that great at painting, but, it keeps me occupied. I also enjoy talking with friends through facetime, houseparty, and zoom. I think It is really important to connect with friends. Lastly, I like to bake. Baking provides a challenge, if I don’t have a challenge then I just get bored.
Schedule
My schedule looks like this: we start school at 8:30 and end at 2:45, my classes are each an hour and thirty minutes long with fifteen minutes in between. There are two classes, then we have lunch for thirty minutes. Then one more class and we are done for the day. After that you can work on homework right away if you want to or you can wait. Yes, my school requires that we do a workout half an hour a day then homework that or freetime.
Classes
My school uses an app called Zoom. In Zoom you can see your classmates, it’s like facetime. You can virtually raise your hand, there’s a chat between your classmates and your teacher, you can ask your teacher to slow down or move faster. My teachers like to use something called breakout rooms, where you can put you and a couple other students in a “room” to do group work. They can put you with certain people or randomize it. For me, it did not take long to get used to online classes, our school provides us with iPads at the beginning of the year. So, we did not have to worry about technology. All of our teachers sent us links, so we can get into the meeting without a problem.
Overall my experience with online school has been going very well. Although sometimes I struggle with procrastination, and that can be difficult. Once you start working and you are focused, you can do anything.
