I want to share how I love serving my community, by KL
Hey guys!! Today is National Philanthropy Day and I wanted to share how I love serving my community!
There are so many simple ways to help. I personally find it super helpful to get involved in groups that are benefiting a charity.
I am a part of many groups through my school, and my NCL chapter.
In each group I get to do fun activities with my friends while helping others!
One of my favorite activities that I have done has been volunteering at the Nursing home by my house. I am able to go and help out on Sundays and play games with them, deliver mail, and hand out popsicles during their ice cream socials! I get to meet new people and build new relationships.
I also love volunteering for Oak Hill Academy. I am a part of a group that goes to OHA and volunteers with the students. Students at OHA are special needs. My brother has special needs so I have such a warm spot in my heart for kids with disabilities. Getting to play sports with them, open carpool doors, and participate in scavenger hunts has not only helped me explore different areas of community service, but it has also changed my perspective on everyday problems.
Seeing kids my age face problems with walking, and talking has made me realize that struggling to study for a test is really a blessing.
So today, and everyday make sure you find ways that you can give back to your community because it is always a humbling and enjoyable experience.
