not having phones at school has been amazing, by BW

Although I may be the only teenager that feels this way, not having phones at school has been amazing.
I didn’t realize how much I was on my phone at school until it was gone.
At ESD, we have various hours of the day that are designated free time. For the first semester of the year, we would all talk to each other but it was also a time for all of us to go on our phones in between classes.
Now that we are not allowed to have phones anymore, we have had to find ways to occupy our time.
My favorite thing to do with my friends in the free time is sit in the sun and talk about everything that is going on. We all really get to bond with each other in a way that no one thought would have an impact.
Because of the world that we live in, it can be hard to socialize with people because everyone is so used to be on phones but when we lift our heads up, even if you are forced to, you will notice a change in so many of your relationships.
While it was definitely hard to get used to the policy at first, especially because everyone was so mad at the start, it really hasn’t been as bad as I thought it would be.
The Seniors are able to spend as much quality time as they can with the people around them before they leave.
Juniors are able to take a pause from their stressful lives and interact with all their grade.
Sophomores find ways to make everything fun when they are hanging out outside.
If you ever find yourself in a situation when you don’t have phones, here’s some advice.
Ask someone how their day is, people love talking about themselves. Make up stupid games or competitions to play. Spend quality time with people that you might not talk to everyday.
Little things like not being on your phones can make huge impacts and change yourself and your relationships.
