my Travel for Teens summer service trip, by AP

Growing up, I always loved marine life, and especially loved the beach. This past summer, I decided to take what I love, and find a way to get service out of it! I spent 2 weeks in July on the stunning shores of Greece, all while contributing to the conservation of endangered sea turtles.
This experience, which was made possible by Travel for Teens, is perfect for teens looking to explore the world, meet new friends, and engage in service.
During the trip, I had the chance to participate in activities on 2 different islands (Kefalonia and Lefkada) plus Athens! We served by monitoring nests, helping with baby turtle releases, and collecting data to support conservation efforts.
In our time not doing service, we shopped on the islands, swam in the Ionian Sea, had a boat day, hiked the Acropolis, and ate what felt like 1000 greek salads. Something I loved was the independence that we were given. We did things as a group, but also had a lot of free time to explore without the counselors. I also met some of my favorite people ever, who I miss so much!!
Travel for Teens offers a huge range of trips in countless countries! (Next on my bucket list is the Belize Scuba & Service 😆). Not all of the trips are service based, but gaining that experience was something so valuable, and also helped me get service hours for my school.
If you’re a teen looking for a unique way to spend your summer, I highly recommend looking into Travel for Teens. Not only will you create lasting memories and friendships, but you’ll also have the opportunity to get more involved!
