my quinceañera, by ER
My quinceañera was a day full of excitement, surrounded with family, friends, from all parts of my life.
My quince was hosted in Richardson, at the Davidson-Gundy Alumni Center at UTD on September 27, 2025. In 2021, my cousin, Natalia, had a quinceañera that made me want to celebrate the same Hispanic tradition. Although, not only a Hispanic tradition, a coming-of-age moment.
A year and a half before, we started planning my quince, from looking at dresses, venues, to looking at decorations and catering, we became busier than we thought.
When looking for dresses, we looked at Ana’s Pro Gowns, and I knew from the start that I wanted the pink, sparkly, rose gold dress.
Our wonderful family friend, Alec, was my chambelan and we spent 4 months practicing a dance made by my family to the song, So This is Love by Ilene Woods.
Once the day came, I was so excited to see family and friends that I cannot see every day, all come to celebrate a very special birthday.
I received a blessing from a loved one, and had a father-daughter and mother-daughter dance, and I also danced with other family members. I had a beautiful cake with red velvet and chocolate flavors, topped with white frosting, and decorated with real flowers. We did a dollar dance, and I got to dance with other loved ones. We also decorated the tables with real flowers with rose gold table toppers.

I felt so much happiness and adrenaline, in a room filled with smiles and love, dancing to songs in English and Spanish, surrounded with people who have been with me through hard and happy moments.
Turning 15 was a big chapter in my life, as I was transitioning to a high school where I didn’t know anyone, and becoming what many call, a young woman.
