you’re not too old for the toy store (i promise), by HJ

During quarantine I thought a lot about what I was going to do this summer. It seemed like everyone would be stuck in their houses; no beach, no camps, and no late night ice cream runs.
Slowly, businesses began to open and people started to go out. At this point I decided to try and find a summer job and asked my brother to help me make a resume.
At first the task of finding a job seemed really scary and I didn’t think I would be able to given all the restrictions that had been put in place for businesses, including many having to work below full-employment.
I applied for a lot of jobs in my area and ended up having a few interviews. Ultimately, I was hired by a local toy store.
I was really nervous about the job at first because I had no previous experience with sales and using a cash register, but all my co-workers were super nice and helped teach me how to do everything.
I have now been working at the store for about a month and I love it. We get to play with bubbles, hula hoop, and help customers find awesome presents for their kids.
As an eighteen year old, I find that I am still intrigued by so many of the toys in the store. Even my friends get excited when they come to visit me at work. For some reason it feels like I will never be too old for a toy store. There is truly something timeless about walking into a toy store and feeling excited about all the colorful little toys placed just within arms reach. That being said here are a few of my favorite toys that we sell:
Rock Pets! These are so easy and I made them with my friends. We couldn’t stop laughing the whole time and I highly recommend this craft for any age.
Who doesn’t love to slip’ n slide on a hot summer day? We always sell out of these really fast because they are so popular and good for any age.
This scrunchie kit is one of my favorites because it’s so colorful and I love having scrunchies on my wrist as an accessory.
